Debator,
Do you think these false teachings in the WT have brought praise to God?
there was a heated discussion between debator and a few others by hijacking this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/194187/1.
i posted here every post on this subject, so you can continue the debate, and leave that thread to its original purpose.
hopefully i got all the relevant posts.
Debator,
Do you think these false teachings in the WT have brought praise to God?
the significance of raymond franz.
in the light of the passing of raymond franz this week, it is clear from the reaction that many were affected by the deeds of this man.
while he was called gentle by those who knew him (for the record, i never got to meet him personally) his reputation preceded him both in the ex jehovah's witness community, and still to this day at the world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses.. while his writings were indeed fair and reasonable, (i challenge anyone to read his books and find bitterness associated with him toward his former peers) i think it would be a mistake to remember ray franz as somewhat of a gentle, doting old man.
I enjoyed reading this.
i find it hard to believe that every one of them used their 'free will' in a way meriting eternal destruction.. prove to me they have free will when supposedly 100% of them were bad.. if they had no choice as to their 'badness', then where is their messiah?.
why do we get one and they don't?.
Is there a possibility that they weren't hybrid half angel /half man?
at romans 6:1-14, we read in part, but especially at 6:7, " for he who has died has been freed from sin.
... we have died with respect to the wrath that sin incurs, having had our sins forgiven".
now stop and think.
Mad Sweeney,
"Actions are justified or not justified, not individuals."
Is that how Paul understood justification?

Can you be justified by your own death?
the death of ray franz hit me harder than i would have thought.. i had to reflect for awhile....alone......and quietly.. .
after all, fine people die every day and some of them are indispensable, yet, we go on....don't we?.
but, ray franz was something that can only be described in the phrase sui generis (one of a kind).. my task was to ask myself what it was that made ray so singular, potent and admirable without a trace of scandal or ill will attached to his memory.. .
"The "tone" of Ray's writings could only be described as modest and real."
I agree. I think that's what made his writing so enjoyable.
what do you think: did god invent man or did man invent god?
http://evolutionofgod.net/about_book/ .
in the evolution of god, robert wright takes us on a sweeping journey through history, unveiling a discovery of crucial importance to the present moment: there is a pattern in the evolution of judaism, christianity, and islam, and a hidden code in their scriptures.
Is a god a god without worship? If nobody recognises him/her as a god then surely he/she isn't.
my story part 2: trouble at bethel.
[if gte mso 9]><!
[endif]by my third year at bethel i was really enjoying it and determined to make bethel a life career.
Thank you I enjoyed reading it. Although it makes me feel rather sad.
i just received word that ray franz passed away today at 1:37 pm eastern daylight time.
the cause of death is stated as head trauma, likely due to falling to the ground, and a stroke could have also been part of the cause or a result of the fall.
he died at emory university hospital in atlanta about 17 minutes after being taken off life support.
Sad. I always hoped to read another book he had written. I enjoyed the two I read very much and still reread portions. I wrote to him and recieved replies from him. I also wrote to the President of the WT but recieved no reply. Ray Franz writing helped me to feel less guilt about leaving what I had held as God's organization.
I like the picture.
